Scenario 1

You are at a conference. Apart from one colleague, you are alone in a crowd. Your colleague has gone to find some coffee. Whilst you are waiting you decide to view some nearby stands. As you are looking at one, you are approached by one of the staff on the stand. She asks 'are you looking for anything in particular?' Your instinct is to:

Tell her, thank you, nothing at the moment, but you will definitely ask her if you see anything
Pretend you didn't hear and read something 'interesting' on the stand
Firmly say no and turn away before she can speak again
Ask how the conference is going and engage her in a conversation
